Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Vash leans in to give Cyril's cheek a kiss. "And he won't hurt me in front of the boys because that would upset them." He doesn't mention that it would probably be easy enough to have the boy sent away briefly by his men. He's hopeful that Knives won't ever think about that or the fact that if Knives did lash out at Vash how he would do his best to keep his feelings to himself during the assault to make sure the boys aren't affected. "So, really, it's the boys protecting everyone these days. Not me."

"That's a lot of pressure on them," he says quietly, but he lets Vash comfort him anyway.

"Just... be alert and careful, okay?"

[goldenglasses]

"I will." He gives Cyril's hand a squeeze. "He loves those boys. He won't do anything to hurt them intentionally. So, I hope this doesn't discouraged you from visiting them."

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "That's the whole reason we're risking him being near people. To enable me to see the boys... I won't waste this chance."

[goldenglasses]

"Then..." He tries to keep his tone neutral, but Cyril will probably hear the clear hope in his voice. "Maybe we'll try lunch again tomorrow?"

[samahl]

Cyril smiles. "I'd like that," he says. He is still nervous about being near Knives, but at least it will be nice to be with Vash and their sons.

"Do you have everything you need? I've heard that you're helping out in the village, but I could get you any supplies you need too, you know."

[goldenglasses]

"I know." Vash admits. "I had a feeling if I said I was with you people would gladly give me most anything I asked for, but I wanted to earn it." He chuckles shyly. "Probably sounds pretty silly, huh?" It just felt somewhat normal that way.

"But... mostly we need clothes? Or cloth I can work into something simple. The boys keep outgrowing their clothes and Knives would like something simple too."

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "I'll make sure we have something put together. You'll have food too supplied for you. You're feeding my sons, the least I can do is make sure you have everything you need."

[goldenglasses]

"Yeah, that would be alright. But, I can help out. I don't want someone going without because of us." He wants to be useful. He isn't aware of how badly he just wants to do something "right" and be told he's done a good job. After so long being treated like a dog who couldn't do anything right even when he was trying so hard to be 'good'.

Cyril smiles. "I understand. It's good... to be able to do something because you want to do it again."

He gives Cyril a knowing smile back. Giving his lover's hand another squeeze. "Yeah, but ultimately I want what is best for the boys. So, no need to worry. I won't refuse any help that is sent our way."

[samahl]

Cyril nods, accepting that. Then, after a moment, "Despite everything. I am relieved that you three are nearby."

[goldenglasses]

"Yeah? We haven't made you're life too difficult?"

[samahl]

"No. Not at all," Cyril says softly. "I was...

I was worried about you."

[goldenglasses]

"I thought you might be. I know if I was away from the boys at all, I would be worried about them every day. I knew we had to find you again."

[samahl]

"I knew that Knives had rescued them, you know. We found some of the places he's been."

[goldenglasses]

"Yeah, but you didn't know he had fully accepted them yet."

[samahl]

"I didn't," he agrees. "Or that he wasn't hurting you."

[goldenglasses]

"He wasn't. He was busy making sure no one from the cult would be left to spread information about our kids." There's a part of him that shudders. Knowing what that ultimately means. He should be horrified, disgusted. Yet, he never did anything to try to stop the murder he knew was happening.

"But, I'm glad coming here was able to put some of those fears to rest for you." He forces himself to smile and look at Cyril. "As you can see, Knives has actually been really good to me. Pretty much anything I've asked of him, he's done his best to help me with."

[samahl]

Cyril still doesn't seem really sure about that, but he doesn't want to badmouth Knives. He nods instead and offers Vash a smile. "I'm glad.

It's always better when you two get along."

[goldenglasses]

"I hope our boys get along better than my brother and I did."

[samahl]

"Me too," Cyril says, trying not to consider Vash's artificial arm. "We'll figure out how to help."

[goldenglasses]

With a nod Vash looks towards the village. "I guess... I should start heading back." Yet he lingers and doesn't let go of Cyril's hand.

He's keeping a good lock on it for the moment. Not letting those feeling leak out to Cyril and keeping his face neutral, but truthfully there's another panic attack bubbling up. He can hear the echo of his gun firing in the cave again.

[samahl]

Cyril squeezes his hand lightly and leans up to give Vash a light kiss. "Make sure to give each boy an extra kiss for me tonight when you tuck them in."

[goldenglasses]

"I will, I promise." He gives Cyril his own kiss on his cheek. "Have..." He hesitates for a moment. "A good night."

He still can't bring himself to let go of Cyril's hand. Wanting to pull him back and run off with Cyril. Run to where I can be just them and their boys.

"I'll see you tomorrow." He'll hold on until Cyril starts to move away.
