[Vash was getting use to his life in the city. Some of it has been pretty bad, but for the most part he really can't complain. He always had enough to eat. He had stopped pouring sand out of his clothing. Could have all the water and shower for however long he wanted. No one had tried to shoot him in months. The people here even didn't care about his scars. In fact some people really liked them!
He was currently without a dominate, but he didn't mind. A small grace period to find another one and he wasn't in a rush. Which is why he was taking a moment to enjoy a bit of people watching in the Down. Munching on a donut and enjoying the day.
The only problem was in times like these his mind tends to wander to thoughts of home. Worry starts to settle in. Hoping that his friends were alright without him. Things certainly looking good when he left. Of course, there wasn't much he could do for them here so he tries not to think too much about it.
Besides, this donut was really tasty. Right now he just wanted to sit and enjoy them. Nothing bad could happen on this day, right?]

That Knives is right about.] Are you ever not angry anymore?no subject
[Knives says, knowing full well that's not better. Apathy is pretty dangerous.]
And I'm not angry at you anymore. [At least not right now.]

He isn't even sure he knows how to be happy. He's experienced surface level manic glee before, usually while hurting someone, but 'happy' feels like a far off concept.
Maybe he was happy once when he was a boy, but all of that had been based on lies.
He shifts uncomfortably and moves to get up.]
If you need a nap, I'll leave you to sleep.
no subject
Except there was one big important thing that was bothering him.] There must be something you can think of that makes you smile. Or something you enjoy doing. Isn't there? [If Knives really can't think of anything to answer him with Vash is going to feel horribly sad for his twin.]
no subject
I'm not sure. The things that made me 'smile' were never because I was happy. It was about fulfilling my purpose, accomplishing what I set out to do.
And now all of that is tainted.
As it stands, I think the only thing that would make me content is knowing you were safe.

[At least it will be something to do.]
For now, you nap. I'll be in the living room. If you need anything call for me instead of getting up.

After a nap though he'll start to grow restless. Laying in bed still for hours is hard. Surely Knives will understand if Vash gets out of bed to go look out a window for a bit, right?
Especially if Knives doesn't know he's out of bed. What Knives doesn't know won't hurt him!]

Honestly, at least it's better than him trying to brush his teeth.]

He needed something to distract him from how quiet it was. Walking slowly on his tiptoes he opens the bedroom door. Seeing his brother dozing on the couch Vash doesn't see a need to wake him up. He just wants to get the book he has hidden between his mattress in his bedroom. How hard could that be? No need to wake his brother up for that!
Off he goes on his secret mission to retrieve the embarrassing romance novel that he's been reading.]
no subject
Seriously?
[He doesn't even sound that annoyed, just exasperated.
But he had told Vash he didn't want to go into Vash's room so it's not like he's going to go in after him.]

He doesn't want to seem aggressive or angry. He's worried, not furious.]
It's in your room?

no subject
Ok. Get everything you think you'll need. Take more than one trip if you think it's going to end up being a lot. [Because honestly, he can just see Vash trying to take everything out of the room all in one trip and that will just put strain on his arms and shoulders.
Still, his intention to not go into Vash's room remains clear. He also has no desire to deprive Vash of things he wants from his room. The only option to keep both of those things is to allow Vash in there.]

With a bit of a faster step now he goes to get his book. Wincing a bit at the way he has to bend and pull it out of its hiding place. He struggles to find more to bring with him. He really didn't own much as he spent so little time inside. He grabs a pack of playing cards before heading back to Knives's bedroom.] You sure you still want me in your bed? You look kind of tired yourself. [In the end he just had to ask.]
no subject
The couch is fine. You are the one who needs to heal.

[He had to heal after July, and had passed time by plotting something terrible. Now, he couldn't imagine having to do that all over again.]
Maybe I could move a television or radio in there?
