Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Knives makes a frustrated sound. "How can you still hold to that stupid idea? After everything."

When Knives makes that sound, Vash instinctively curls around his boys. As if preparing to protect them from some kind of blow with his own body. Still programed to think that any sign of rebellion will lead to pain for those he loves. He slowly eases back and stops hovering.

"There were some bad ones; yes. That doesn't mean all humans are bad."

"Hn," Knives makes a noise and then, after a moment, he gets up. "I'm going to patrol. You just focus on your boys."

[goldenglasses]

"You--?" He hesitates. Worried about Knives patrolling on his own. Yet, he also likes the idea of having a bit of time alone with his sons. "It's pretty safe here. We could join you on the patrol?" He offers. In the end deciding it may be safer to keep an eye on his brother after the talk they were just having.

[samahl]

Knives stops, looking over at Vash. "You want to take the boys to patrol?"

He gives an embarrassed chuckle. "Well, it would be more of a walk than a patrol for them."

Knives hums and then nods. He moves to get Alex set up so that he can carry him while they walk.

When Knives starts to get Alex ready, Vash does the same for Soren. Dressing him in slightly warmer clothes. Fighting the boy a little as he thinks it's a fun game to take off what dad just put on him, but eventually Vash is victorious by distracting with kisses and tickles.

Knives considers Vash as he finishes getting Alex ready faster, but mostly because he's more efficient and doesn't get as distracted. "Do you want to go out or not?"

[goldenglasses]

"Yeah, I'll come. It will be good to keep stretching my legs and getting some fresh air with the boys. If that's alright?" Again, there's that hesitation. That need to ask permission that wasn't there before.

[samahl]

Knives nods. "It will be good," he agrees. "But you seem to be delaying it."

[goldenglasses]

"Oh, sorry." He ducks his head. Instinctively curling around his son in his arms while keeping a close eye on Alex. Once again, subconsciously concerned for their welfare for displeasing someone. "We're ready. We can go."

Soren is confused why the fun and silly atmosphere has suddenly left his father. Maybe if he babbles and smacks his dad's cheek that will help.

Knives focuses on getting the boys finished getting ready and then heads to the door. Opening it, he waits for Vash to go first.

For a moment Vash hesitates. Conditioned to follow and not lead, but he's also still smart. It doesn't take him long to figure out what his brother wants and he heads out. Glancing back as if to make sure he's doing the right thing.

Once out he moves to 'portal' away from the town. Wanting to keep his brother away from it.

Luckily, Knives doesn't seem interested in the town either. He takes the boys for a stroll around the wooded areas surrounding the town.

As they walk, Vash begins to relax a little again. Playing a bit more with his son as they walk. Lifting him up and down into the air to make him giggle and look around in wonderment at the world.

Knives seems to feel better now that they are out and about. He eventually finds a nice clearing with wild flowers that the boys can crawl around in.

Vash watches as the boys play. Quick to step in when little hands try to put things into their mouths. "Sorry boys, these flowers aren't for eating."

A pang of sorrow suddenly hits him from no where. Remembering the time he asked Rem if geraniums were for eating. He smiles through it. "But aren't they pretty to look at?"

Knives watches. "Hm... We should have brought some snacks too..." he points out thoughtfully.

"A thought for next time, but I don't think they're too hungry. Mostly curious and it seems everything is learned through the mouth."

"They're just babies. We did the same thing too when we were young."

Knives makes a face. "And then we learned better."

"And they will too. We don't need to rush them growing up. Let them be kids while they can."
