museunboxing | Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

The boys pick up standing pretty quickly. Walking seems to still be a little ways away. Yet, they seem to be having fun trying. The boys trusting their dads to catch them as they more throw themselves forward than walk.

Cyril seems surprised by how quickly they learn. The first time one of them takes steps, he cheers and claps, which makes the other one want to get right in on it too. Eventually, they are shaky but clearly are learning to get the hang of walking around.

He feels deeply overwhelmed with emotion as he watches them.

"That's it, boys!" Vash gives them excited encouragement. Occasionally taking his hands away for brief moments to give the boys a chance to try before quickly catching them the moment they look like they might topple. "You're both so smart. Look at you two!"

Cyril feels tears forming in his eyes. "You both are so good," he says. He encourages one of them to come to him and then kisses his head. Then he does the same with the other. They're slowly getting more steady, but eventually their legs get tired and they end up just sitting with their dads.

When they grow tired, Vash sits with Alex on his lap. Allowing the boy to chew on his hand. "I'm so proud of them." He also has tears stinging his eyes as he looks to Cyril with a smile. "How did the two of us end up with such prefect boys?"

Cyril shakes his head. "I.... I don't know..." He does know, though. A lot of pain and terror. But, right now, none of that matters. What matters is this moment.

As Alex starts to drift off with Vash's thumb still in his mouth, he blurts out what's been on his mind.

"I don't want to go back to the cabin. I hate taking them from you each time."

Cyril presses his lips together. "You need to, though. I don't want the people in this village to suffer if your brother gets upset..."

He needs to come up with a better solution. Maybe he will have to move to a different location.

"I know." He sighs softly and shifts to remove his hand from his son's mouth. "I'm going to go back and I'll try to avoid upsetting him. I don't think he minds the cabin. I think he'll be fine so long as we have space there."

"I put the villagers in danger already. Maybe... Maybe we find a more remote location... Somewhere without innocent people around."

"I wouldn't want Knives anywhere near it, but I wish we could go to Skyhold. It seems like a place the kids could have fun growing up in."

Cyril hums thoughtfully and nods. "Maybe when they're older? They could make the choice then."

"Yes, I would like it. I want them to have the freedom to go and do as they desire when they're older."

Cyril nods. "Me too," he agrees. After a moment, though, he moves to sit up, picking up one of his sons as he does.

"For now, you should probably head back after the boys take a bit of a nap." He moves to set the boy down on some pillows where he can nap.

Mirroring the motion, Vash stands with Alex. Moving so smoothly that the child doesn't wake up even as Vash shifts to put him down near his brother on the pillows. Taking a moment to just enjoy how peaceful they look while asleep.

"How's Cassandra? I hope she's also growing up well."

He nods. "Not nearly as quickly as the boys, but she's doing well..." He settles next to Vash as the boys get comfortable. "She's so calm. It's like nothing phases her except being hungry."

"She sounds like a very good girl. Probably gets it from her father." He grins and gives Cyril a playful nudge with his shoulder.
