museunboxing | Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

I feel I'm forgetting some warning so please be careful if you're reading this as we are going to go very dark.

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Vash looks at his sons and sighs softly. Smiling at the way they play and explore the world around them. "No. They seem okay."

"Then don't worry too much. They'll notice."

"I'll try not to." He sits down as the boys seem less interested in eating everything. He's been getting stronger, but he still tires easily. He enjoys sitting in the sun and getting some rest. He might even doze off if they rest for an extended period of time.

Knives lets him. He'll take over caring for the boys and playing with them. He also talks with them, teaching them a bit about the world around them. He is also careful to watch everything around them.

Eventually, the boys seem to get hungry, though. He moves to wake Vash to see about getting home.

Vash snorts as he comes awake with a start. Not having realised he had dozed off. "The boys?!" He glances around before chuckling nervously. "Oh, sorry, guess I was tired."

"It's fine. They were safe with me," Knives replies simply. "It's good that you slept. Now we should return and feed the boys."

With a nod, Vash stands to pick up Alex. "Ooh, and a diaper change from the smell of it."

Knives grunts in response to that observation. "Another thing I'll be happy when they grow out of it..."

"Worth the stink for them to be so extra cute." Vash says as a joke before falling quiet for the walk back.

Knives is quiet too. He seems to be looking around as they walk, though, keeping watch at anyone who might be around.

When they get back to the cabin, they find there are some supplies waiting. Mostly, it's food and things they might need for the boys. There's a piece of parchment on the outside of the bags holding the supplies bearing the symbol of the Inqusition but not much else.

Vash doesn't say anything about the supplies past that he'll take care of them. First he gets his sons changed and fed.

Once they're settled he gets to work putting away the gifts that Cyril's people have left them.

Knives considers the bags with a hum. "We would have all of this if we stayed home," he points out. He doesn't help Vash, just watches him.

"Hm." Vash hums softly. "They were very kind to supply us with these items."

"Of course," Knives agrees, but he doesn't seem really to care.

Once he finishes putting everything away, Vash picks sits down with his sons. Holding them both closely on his laps and humming softly to them.

He wishes Cyril was here. He wishes they were living peacefully together and happy. Without fully realising he's doing it, he begins to resonate with his sons. Not enough to fully activate any of their powers, but a connection is made regardless. One Knives might be able to feel from the three of them.

Knives's back straightens as he watches them. It's so rare for Vash to effortlessly embrace his powers like this.

He's quiet, not wanting to break up the moment, but he seems to drink in every moment he can as he watches.

For a good fifteen minutes, the three are quiet and still. Enjoying a connection that only Plants can share.

Then that influence begins to expand. The boys seeking out more. Their uncle, their father, their sisters. There's only a brief nervous hesitation from Vash. Teetering and wondering if he should stop this, before he let's it happen. Allowing his own twin to join them if he wishes to.

Knives does want it, opening himself up to the boys and his brother. Vash is usually so hesitant to do something like this, and it means something that the boys get him to embrace more of what he is.

Vash remains hesitant as his brother joins. His mind open like this it's harder to hide the distrust he still feels towards Knives. The part of him that still sees him as a threat to the people he cares about.

He does his best to hide it. Focusing more on his sons, but if Knives looks for it he'll see it.

Knives does seem it, and it probably doesn't help that he seems to almost stalk around the edges of the connection, like a predator looking in on a collection of small, delicate animals. At least he's careful to let the boys take as much as they want, though his physical gaze seems to mostly be on Vash.

For a moment, Vash might sense a lot of the emotions that Knives keeps hidden. There's an almost unfathomable level of longing there, deep and dark.

While Vash sees it, he's much more concern about watching his boys as they interact with his brother. Making sure they don't get overwhelmed.

Yet... there is something nice about the want that he can feel from Knives. He knows it's dangerous, but he feels safe right now and he's so tired of fighting. He does let Knives in a bit more. Not much, but more than he's ever allowed in the past.

Knives keeps the connection up, letting himself get a little closer. Then, after a while, I think the boys are getting tired. It didn't help that I ruined their nap. He says it without words, though.

Vash allows Knives get closer. Slowly getting more comfortable the longer his brother shares his mental space, the more comfortable he becomes with it.

Yeah, I think you're right. The boys did seem to be flagging a little. Vash starts to pull back in order to begin putting the twins to bed. "Give me a hand with them?" HE says out loud.
