Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Knives gets up to do just that. Not responding with words, but with his action. He helps to get the boys ready for bed.

Vash helps to settle his kids. Singing them a soft little lullaby. It's a soft tune he picked up from Cyril's people back when they first met. Wanting the boys to experience the elven culture they also come from as much as he can.

He let's the song drift off once he's certain both boys are asleep.

"I should probably get some sleep too." He glances at his brother. "Are you going to sleep at all?" He knows Knives doesn't need nearly as much sleep as he does.

"Hm. Yes. Probably I will tonight," he agrees. He moves to get ready for bed himself. He tries not to focus too much of his attention on Vash as they get ready to sleep and climb into bed.

It doesn't take Vash long to get ready for bed. He nearly doesn't even change. So use to being naked or having only one outfit for so long.

He does change and crawls into bed. Watching his brother a bit nervously. Wondering if he'll be able to lay down in the bed he had been trying to share with Cyril.

[samahl]

Knives is quiet for a moment before he gets into the bed too. "You opened up to the boys effortlessly," he points out gently. "You should do it more. Connect with those around you."

[goldenglasses]

"I've always connected with our family." Vash says in a gentle voice. "I know you don't believe it, but I've never hesitated when our sisters needed me."

[samahl]

"I believe that you think that's what you've done," Knives says after a moment.

[goldenglasses]

Vash is quiet. Knives might sense that Vash wants to say something. To argue against that statement.

He knows that his brother won't hurt his sons. Yet he can't help feeling like someone will if he argues.

In the end he simply says. "Alright."

[samahl]

Knives is queit for a moment. Then, finally, "Do you think you'll be able to open yourself to Lavellan like that?"

[goldenglasses]

A beat. He's pretty sure Knives won't like hearing that he has. "He's a Plant now. We all could."

[samahl]

Knives narrows his eyes. "He's at least a very convincing imitation..."

[goldenglasses]

"Hm." Once again Knives may get that feeling that Vash wants to argue, but doesn't. Staying quiet.

[samahl]

"Say what you're thinking. Or... share it with me."

[goldenglasses]

Once again, Vash hesitates. "You won't like my answer."

Ok bedtime for me. Have a good night!

[samahl]

"You are right, I probably won't. You used to be brave enough to say it anyway."

Have a good sleep!

[goldenglasses]

"I don't want to fight and upset you."

[samahl]

Knives makes a soft, frustrated noise. "I want you to agree with me because you agree with me, because you see the wisdom in putting our family first and understand why valuing humans is at odds with that."

Normally Vash would have immediately barked back that he does care. That working with humans could help their family. He would have sat up to look his brother in the eye as he said it.

Tonight he stays down on the bed. Back turned to avoid looking at his brother. Silent for a moment as his mind races for how to answer in a way that won't cause his family pain. "I understand what you're saying."

[samahl]

Knives is quiet for a moment. Finally, he turns, putting his back to Vash too, facing away from him. "Go to sleep, Vash."

[goldenglasses]

While his brother is quiet, Vash is tense. Muscles ready to spring to the defence of his kids. Logically, he knows Knives won't hurt them, but after years of torture that started with Knives throwing his lover to wolves for disobedience? He can't relax.

Even after he's told to go to bed. It takes several long moments before Vash begins to relax enough to sleep. "Yes, sir."

i'm gonna go lie down for a bit. have a good day!

Knives stays awake for a while, listening to Vash and trying to control his own anger and jealousy. After a moment, he turns and ends up gently putting an arm around Vash's body.

Have a good lie down!

Vash has drifted off by the time Knives wraps an arm around him. Instinctively, while still asleep, his body shifts slightly. Hips moving into the position Titus would have demanded of him. He fell asleep stressed for his family. His unconscious mind thinking that arm around him more as his abuser than lover. Yet, not enough to fully wake him these days.
