Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Knives is queit for a moment. Then, finally, "Do you think you'll be able to open yourself to Lavellan like that?"

[goldenglasses]

A beat. He's pretty sure Knives won't like hearing that he has. "He's a Plant now. We all could."

[samahl]

Knives narrows his eyes. "He's at least a very convincing imitation..."

[goldenglasses]

"Hm." Once again Knives may get that feeling that Vash wants to argue, but doesn't. Staying quiet.

[samahl]

"Say what you're thinking. Or... share it with me."

[goldenglasses]

Once again, Vash hesitates. "You won't like my answer."

Ok bedtime for me. Have a good night!

[samahl]

"You are right, I probably won't. You used to be brave enough to say it anyway."

Have a good sleep!

[goldenglasses]

"I don't want to fight and upset you."

[samahl]

Knives makes a soft, frustrated noise. "I want you to agree with me because you agree with me, because you see the wisdom in putting our family first and understand why valuing humans is at odds with that."

Normally Vash would have immediately barked back that he does care. That working with humans could help their family. He would have sat up to look his brother in the eye as he said it.

Tonight he stays down on the bed. Back turned to avoid looking at his brother. Silent for a moment as his mind races for how to answer in a way that won't cause his family pain. "I understand what you're saying."

[samahl]

Knives is quiet for a moment. Finally, he turns, putting his back to Vash too, facing away from him. "Go to sleep, Vash."

[goldenglasses]

While his brother is quiet, Vash is tense. Muscles ready to spring to the defence of his kids. Logically, he knows Knives won't hurt them, but after years of torture that started with Knives throwing his lover to wolves for disobedience? He can't relax.

Even after he's told to go to bed. It takes several long moments before Vash begins to relax enough to sleep. "Yes, sir."

i'm gonna go lie down for a bit. have a good day!

[samahl]

Knives stays awake for a while, listening to Vash and trying to control his own anger and jealousy. After a moment, he turns and ends up gently putting an arm around Vash's body.

Have a good lie down!

Vash has drifted off by the time Knives wraps an arm around him. Instinctively, while still asleep, his body shifts slightly. Hips moving into the position Titus would have demanded of him. He fell asleep stressed for his family. His unconscious mind thinking that arm around him more as his abuser than lover. Yet, not enough to fully wake him these days.

[samahl]

Knives doesn't pry into Vash's mind, though he does keep his arm around him even as Vash pushes closer. He closes his eyes and tries to let himself go to sleep, even as his natural state is to fight being that vulnerable.

At first Vash stays as he is. Waiting for "Titus" to do with him as he wishes. Eventually, he slips deeper into sleep. He shifts in his slumber. Even occasionally muttering incoherent words. Possibly making it a little difficult for Knives to sleep.

[samahl]

Knives opens an eye as Vash mumbles. "Shh," he says very quietly. "Go to sleep."

[goldenglasses]

There's a brief tensing when Knives speaks. Vash not fully waking, but there's some part of him half awake. Trying to sense if there is an attack coming. Before he eventually relaxes a little and returns to his somewhat fitful sleep.

It seems Vash doesn't find his brother's voice to be a comforting or soothing sound to hear as he sleep.

Knives waits for Vash to get back to normal and then closes his eyes, trying again to get a little bit of sleep.

[goldenglasses]

Besides the occasional shifting and soft murmuring in his sleep, Vash doesn't move much more than that. It doesn't seem overly peaceful, but he doesn't seem to be awake either.

It will be towards dawn when the first boy starts to come awake that Vash wakes up himself. Instinctively stirred awake by his child's needs. Automatically trying to get up gently. So use to trying not to wake up either Titus or Cyril when he first wakes up. Forgetting he doesn't need to do that with his brother.

Knives is asleep, though, surprisingly. His arm is still loosely wrapped over Vash's body as his body has curved around Vash. He sleeps completely still and silent.

[goldenglasses]

Feeling his brother's arm around him causes Vash to hesitate. It didn't feel as oppressive and threatening as when he woke up with Titus touching him, but it certainly didn't make him feel safe and loved like Cyril's touch did either.

He hesitates. Unsure how to untangle himself from his twin without waking him.

Master doesn't like it when you wake him. Came the intrusive thought that he pushed away. Knives wasn't his master. He was his brother and he wouldn't be angry at him for getting up to check on the kids.

Slowly Vash finally starts to shift. Making an attempt to ease away from his brother to go and check on Alex.

[samahl]

As Vash pulls away, Knives's arm falls. That's what wakes him up more than anything. He makes a soft noise that is more of a sigh than a groan, and comes to quickly.

"Do the boys need something...?"

[goldenglasses]

"Just a change." Vash speaks softly. Feeling the need to whisper this early in the morning even though everyone was awake now. "It's alright, I can handle it." He picks up Alex and rocks him as he moves to a better surface to change his son.

[samahl]

Knives shifts to get up. "Perhaps you can, but you have an additional pair of hands and two boys."
