Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

"Just a change." Vash speaks softly. Feeling the need to whisper this early in the morning even though everyone was awake now. "It's alright, I can handle it." He picks up Alex and rocks him as he moves to a better surface to change his son.

[samahl]

Knives shifts to get up. "Perhaps you can, but you have an additional pair of hands and two boys."

[goldenglasses]

"Then, I won't say no if you really want to help with this stinky task." He gives his son's toes a playful squeeze and wiggle to make him laugh before he gets to the task at hand.

"Phew!" He makes exaggerated faces at Alex as he unties the nappy to replace it with a clean cloth. "What are we feeding you two?" It's easier to pretend he doesn't feel empty inside when playing with his kids.

Knives doesn't really play along. He focuses on getting the task done, cleaning up the baby, and getting him dressed for the day.

It means he'll be done much sooner than Vash who takes time to play with Alex a little.

Once changed he ask Knives to watch the kids as he gets their breakfast ready.

Knives does just that, though instead of playing, he focuses on teaching. He works on helping the boys with words and colors.

The boys give Knives they're undivided attention as he goes over the words. Like little sponges hungry for more knowledge.

"I guess I don't really need to go out today." Vash muses as he finishes up preparing breakfast. "We got what we need for now." At least until the cloth to make them all some new clothes comes in.

[samahl]

Knives nods. He's quiet for a moment, considering their options. "We should focus on teaching today," he says simply. "The boys should be walking and talking soon."

[goldenglasses]

He sighs a little sadly thinking about that. "Yeah. Sounds good." He comes around with the boys breakfast. Getting them settled to eat. "I'm thinking of taking them to see Cyril around lunch today." He tries to say it casually. Hoping it might make Knives less annoyed.

[samahl]

Knives eyes narrow. For a moment, it seems like he's going to argue against that, but instead he says, "Fine."

Just wanted to have an excuse for Vash to use his powers again

Vash won't bring it up again. Instead, he focuses on getting the boys fed and then cleaned up.

There is a brief moment of chaos when Soren accidentally strikes his brother with a flailing limb. The boy begins to cry at the sudden bit of pain.

Vash is there quickly. Immediately scooping up his son and connecting with him to sooth the pain and take it into himself one more. Easily and effortlessly tapping into some of his Plant abilities in front of his brother once again.

Knives watches Vash and it calms down his irritation. He takes Soren to make sure the boy knows he isn't in trouble, connecting with him to soothe any confusion or worry. Mostly, though, he watches Vash.

It's such a mild, almost nothing injury that it doesn't take Vash hardly at time or effort to take the pain away from his son into himself. "There you are, Alex. It was just an accident. You're okay."

[samahl]

Knives gently sets down Soren too. "You handle them both well," he says softly.

[goldenglasses]

"It's easy when they're this young." Alex seems to have already forgotten the slight against him. Happily going back to play with his brother. "They just need a little distraction.

[samahl]

"Let's get them ready to learn something, then. That's a productive distraction."

[goldenglasses]

"How about numbers?" Vash suggests as he works on getting his kid's attention. "You have ten toes. This little piggy here is one." He takes each boys big toes and gives them a wiggle.

[samahl]

Knives lets Vash take over this, though he does watch in case Vash gets sidetracked with play more than teaching. He only steps in when that becomes obvious.

Vash goes through and makes a counting game and song for their toes. A mix of piggies going to market.

Although by the time all ten are counted it's devolved more into play thab study.

[samahl]

"Now you're just tickling them," Knives points out.

[goldenglasses]

"That's okay, isn't it? Make learning fun?"

[samahl]

"As long as you don't forget the learning part," he replies. "Is that what you're doing?"

[goldenglasses]

"Eh, maybe a little. Okay, we can go back to the studying. Did you want to take over for a bit?"

Knives nods and does just that. His teaching style is a mixture of speech and connection, using their mental connection to reinforce ideas.

Vash checks when Knives connects with his sons. Slight paranoia that he's teaching his sons something wrong, but pulls back when it's clearly innocent.

Although as they get closer to the afternoon, Vash tries to stop the learning. "I think that's enough for now. I don't want them to be too tired."
