Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

It's such a mild, almost nothing injury that it doesn't take Vash hardly at time or effort to take the pain away from his son into himself. "There you are, Alex. It was just an accident. You're okay."

Knives gently sets down Soren too. "You handle them both well," he says softly.

"It's easy when they're this young." Alex seems to have already forgotten the slight against him. Happily going back to play with his brother. "They just need a little distraction.

[samahl]

"Let's get them ready to learn something, then. That's a productive distraction."

[goldenglasses]

"How about numbers?" Vash suggests as he works on getting his kid's attention. "You have ten toes. This little piggy here is one." He takes each boys big toes and gives them a wiggle.

Knives lets Vash take over this, though he does watch in case Vash gets sidetracked with play more than teaching. He only steps in when that becomes obvious.

Vash goes through and makes a counting game and song for their toes. A mix of piggies going to market.

Although by the time all ten are counted it's devolved more into play thab study.

"Now you're just tickling them," Knives points out.

"That's okay, isn't it? Make learning fun?"

[samahl]

"As long as you don't forget the learning part," he replies. "Is that what you're doing?"

[goldenglasses]

"Eh, maybe a little. Okay, we can go back to the studying. Did you want to take over for a bit?"

Knives nods and does just that. His teaching style is a mixture of speech and connection, using their mental connection to reinforce ideas.

Vash checks when Knives connects with his sons. Slight paranoia that he's teaching his sons something wrong, but pulls back when it's clearly innocent.

Although as they get closer to the afternoon, Vash tries to stop the learning. "I think that's enough for now. I don't want them to be too tired."

Knives nods, accepting that. He is quiet for a moment before pushing up from where he's standing. "If you're going to see Lavellan, I'll patrol."

There's a moment of hesitation from Vash. A nervousness of allowing his brother to roam anywhere near this town without supervision.

"Maybe I'll drop the boys off with Cyril for lunch and join you? Give him some one of one time with them." He tries to sound casual about the suggestion. Seeing how his brother might react to the idea of leaving the kids alone with Cyril and the idea of having Vash as a constant shadow.

Knives narrows his eyes. "Why?"

[goldenglasses]

"Hm?" He puts on the dumb act. "Oh, I dunno. I guess the two of us haven't really had any time together without watching over kids. Guess I thought it might be nice to catch up? The boys will be safe with Cyril."

[samahl]

"Will they be? He wasn't able to protect them before."

[goldenglasses]

"Before we were being controlled and already restrained. We're free now to fight back fully."

[samahl]

"Fully? He couldn't stop himself from being captured before."

[goldenglasses]

"And neither could I."

[samahl]

"I know. That's why as long as you're here, I am too. You cannot be trusted to protect them alone."

[goldenglasses]

It strings. Knowing it's true. "It's fine. If you don't want to patrol together you can just say so."

[samahl]

"I don't want you to leave the boys out of your sight unless they're with someone who can better protect them."

[goldenglasses]

"Cyril can protect them better than I can." Cyril wouldn't hesitate when choices have to be made.
