Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Vash can sense that Cyril's had a long day as he approaches.

Okay for a lunch break? He asks before he sees Cyril. To give him a chance to say he can't have a break before the boys see their father and get too excited.

dang i'm sleepy so i'm gonna go to bed. x_x

Cyril seems relieved to sense Vash. Yes, he replies. Come in. You can have some of the food the cook here made for me that I haven't had a moment to touch.

Thanks. He wasn't hungry, but he didn't think Cyril would like to hear that. The boys will be glad to see you.

Vash is polite to any security that tries to stop him from seeing Cyril. Knowing they were just doing their job. Still, it's an utter relief once he finally sees Cyril's face again.

The guards watch him, but they don't stop him. It seems like they know who he is. Bull is with Cyril when Vash shows up and he watches with his arms crossed.

Cyril gets up and goes to his sons, greeting them with a wide, happy smile. He takes one of them and kisses the boy's head before doing the same with the other. "Come on, let's go a private office. We can eat there."

He doesn't invite Vash to his room because he shares it with Marikoth and he knows Marikoth would probably hate Vash being there. Instead, they end up in a guest room that has a small table in it, they can have lunch and tea there.

Vash bows his head respectfully towards Bull, but doesn't speak past agreeing to follow Cyril to a private office.

"It's so good to see you." He says once they're alone. Feeling more of the day lifting just a little now that he's with Cyril.

[samahl]

"It's good to see you too," Cyril agrees. He makes sure to set the boys up so they are safe and can explore the room a little. He watches them crawl around while picking at his lunch.

"Knives has been behaving?"

The telling pause before he speaks should almost be more of an answer then the one Vash gives. "You shouldn't come near the cabin anymore. It would be best if you can tell all of your people to keep their distance from it and Knives."

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "I sent some items there yesterday. Was that acceptable?"

[goldenglasses]

"It was yesterday. Maybe... don't send anything more. I'll take things back with me instead."

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "Anything else will take a while to get here," he admits. "We have a trade route we can use but they don't have access to your transportation."

[goldenglasses]

"Hmm. It's alright. We have most of what we need right now anyway." He watches the boys crawling around on the floor.

"I'm sorry." He says after a long pause. "You can't come to the cabin because of me. I upset him. I can't seem to stop making things more difficult for you to see your children."

[samahl]

Cyril frowns. "He's the one who should apologize..." he says after a moment.

[goldenglasses]

"I'm the one who said something I knew would upset him." Not true. He had hoped maybe being honest with his brother might make them closer. "I'll work on making it up to him so he's not so upset."

There's another long pause. "Are we in your way? Being here?"

[samahl]

Cyril shakes his head. "No. Why would you think that you were?"

[goldenglasses]

"I'm sure you or Bull have people keeping an eye on us. To make sure Knives doesn't do something awful. Those are resources that could be better spent on helping the people of this country."

[samahl]

Cyril is quiet for a moment. Then, finally, "Vash... Please don't worry about my resources. I'm...

It's not a good reason to keep you away."

"I just don't want to be a strain or burden on anyone anymore."

[samahl]

"And I don't want that to be the reason you stay away."

[goldenglasses]

"I have no plans on leaving. Knives wouldn't let the boys stay with you if I'm not nearby." More Knives wouldn't let the boys stay without him, but Vash doesn't want to argue about that point.

[samahl]

"Hm," Cyril makes a soft noise of disapproval, but doesn't comment more than that. Instead, he focuses on eating a bit more of lunch.

"I think they'll be walking soon. Do you want to help them practice today?" He offers in an attempt to change the subject.

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "Hmm. That sounds fun. A much better way to spend my afternoon."

[goldenglasses]

"And if there's something you did want to talk about? We can as we help them." Vash doesn't want Cyril to feel like he can't bring things up if he needs to.

[samahl]

Cyril is quiet for a moment. He shrugs. "I don't know what you want me to say, love," he admits after a moment.

[goldenglasses]

"I don't know either. Just... anything? How your day is going? Things that are making you happy? Things that may be upsetting you? I'll listen. I may not have answers, but I want you to know that I'll listen. That is, if you want to talk to me." Was he someone Cyril no longer feels safe talking to?
