Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

"I think we may be able to get them to walk today. If you'd like to try and encourage them with me?"

[samahl]

Cyril smiles and nods. "Let's try," he agrees.

He'll focus on that for a while, then. The boys do end up walking, and they get the hang of it pretty quickly. Cyril celebrates and encourages them to keep moving. Eventually, though, it's clear they are ready for an afternoon nap. Cyril has a crib in his office that Cassandra uses sometimes, so he lets the boys settle there. He watches over them as they snuggle up with each other and eventually fall asleep.

"They're so amazing." Vash says, voice full of love about his sons. "I might need to do some work in town and buy more cloth to make them some new clothes again."

[samahl]

"Yeah..." Cyril admits after a moment. Then he presses his lips together.

"I'll see about getting something together for them. I have some traders arriving soon to bring wares to the town. They should have something that will work."

[goldenglasses]

"I don't mind trading what I can do in skills for goods. I don't think I have anything of value to trade."

[samahl]

"We'll figure something out," Cyril says with a nod. Then, he moves away from the crib. He stretches his arms and back.

"I wasn't running from Knives," he says. "Your brother doesn't really scare me anymore. Not after I figured out I can run from him and survive now."

[goldenglasses]

"I'm glad he doesn't scare you anymore." He pauses for a moment before moving away from their kids. "Are you sure you want to talk about this now?"

[samahl]

"No. But I want you to know I'm not worried about Knives.

Well, I am but about him snapping and hurting the village nearby, not about my own personal safety."

Going to be driving so may miss you going to bed!

[goldenglasses]

"I understand." Vash smiles. "It's something valid to be worried about. I'm doing my best to make sure he never wants to feel the need to do that." He pauses there. Seeing if Cyril might go on from there.

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "I know," he says softly. "I don't want to have to fight him. People would get hurt. Probably I'd end up dead."

Sneaks in one more

He nods his head in agreement. Then tentatively asks the question he's slightly dreading. "Did you want to talk about why you ran then?"

[samahl]

Cyril is quiet for a moment as he thinks it over. "No. I don't think I do..." He's so careful to keep his emotions locked away. "I'm sorry. I know you want me too, but I don't think it will be productive."

[goldenglasses]

"That's okay. I understand." Vash smiles and reaches for Cyril's hand to hold. "Would you like to talk about other things instead?"

[samahl]

Cyril lets Vash take his hand. He nods. "Sure. We can do that. Or we can just sit in quiet. Maybe read or something like that..." Honestly, a nap doesn't sound that bad, if he's being honest.

Vash's expression and outward feelings don't change in the slightest. Yet, he can't help but worry that he's done something so Cyril doesn't feel like he can talk about anything with him now.

"Yeah, sure. That sounds nice too."

There might be a telling pause before Vash quietly adds to that. "Or, would you like some time alone with the boys? You could watch them for a bit while I go into town?"

[samahl]

Cyril raises his brow. "Really?" He doesn't fight to get Vash to stay the same way he would have before. "Are you sure you're comfortable with that?"

[goldenglasses]

"Only if you are? And it's what you'd like?" Vash is secretly hoping Cyril will tell him to stay, but is trying to avoid asking for him to do so. He wants Cyril to want him here.

[samahl]

Cyril presses his lips together and considers the boys. "Would your brother be all right with that?" he asks after a moment.

Once again, Vash's smile doesn't change in the slightest, but his heart drops slightly. Cyril is more concerned about his brother then simply asking Vash to stay.

"Probably wouldn't be the biggest fan." He admits. "Maybe I could help out around here if you'd still like some personal time with the boys?"

[samahl]

"I was actually thinking of using this time to take a nap," he admits after a moment. "I wouldn't want to bore you."

Once more, Vash hesitates. "Did you... would you like company at all?"

[samahl]

"If you'd like to stay, I wouldn't complain," Cyril says gently. He nudges Vash lightly. "There's a couch here. It might be a tight fit..." He points to the coushy sofa under the window in the room.

The nudge is encouraging, but Vash still isn't sure he's what Cyril really wants anymore. "You sure you'd be able to get rest with me crowding you?"

[samahl]

Cyril hums and moves to the couch. "Come on, rest with me. You'll be a tall, lanky, skinny pillow."

[goldenglasses]

He moves towards the couch. "Alright, maybe I can even be a blanket too." He says with the intention of holding Cyril in a light hug if it's what it seems Cyril is comfortable with.
