Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

"Cyril is important! He could have changed the world for the better if not for the two of us!"

Although Knives does have a point about people and his sons. "Maybe they would. There are good people in this town. I don't want my sons to grow up scared and in hiding their whole lives."

[samahl]

"They shouldn't be scared, Vash. They should be cautious. Until they are strong enough to protect themselves, it's our job. And you've done a terrible job of it.

That's why you need me."

Vash opens his mouth to argue against that. Then he shuts his mouth and looks away. "I won't bring them into town."

[samahl]

"Good," Knives agrees.

"I don't mind you taking them to their father. They like being near him. But you can't let the humans near him."

[goldenglasses]

"I still think them learning to socialize with humans is important."

[samahl]

Knives shakes his head. "It really isn't," he says finally. "We don't need them at all."

[goldenglasses]

"Not today at least." He's trying to change the subject. "Let's work on their numbers today?"

[samahl]

Knives nods. He likes the distraction and he wants the boys to learn. He works on setting up structure for a lesson and spends the rest of the morning teaching them.

When it's lunch time, he lets Vash pack them up to take them back to Cyril.

"We're going to be good for Daddy today, right? Maybe walk for him?" Vash chats with his sons as he walks. Making his way to Cyril's home.

Making himself known to the guards the moment he comes across the first one.

[samahl]

Cyril is ready for Vash now. He's taken a bath and redone his make up. He looks good as he focuses on finishing up work. He looks up when Bull opens the door to let Vash in. Bull, for his part, doesn't seem particularly interested in letting Cyril out of his sight, but he does go out of the room to give the family some space.

He's probably just outside the door, though.

"Sorry about him," Cyril says with another practiced smile. "I think I really scared him. I'll have to be careful in the future."

"I'm sure Marikoth was worried too." The former slave has also been hovering a bit, but he's a bit more use to things he cares about being taken away suddenly. So he's been able to not be quite as upset as Bull is and give Cyril his space when required.

"But, I'll try to avoid making you feel like you need to check on me in the middle of the night again."

[samahl]

Cyril bites his lip and then nods. "If you think that's best," he says.

He moves then to put away his work and focus on his boys. He doesn't really want to talk about last night, and would much rather spend some time with the twins.

"I think we may be able to get them to walk today. If you'd like to try and encourage them with me?"

[samahl]

Cyril smiles and nods. "Let's try," he agrees.

He'll focus on that for a while, then. The boys do end up walking, and they get the hang of it pretty quickly. Cyril celebrates and encourages them to keep moving. Eventually, though, it's clear they are ready for an afternoon nap. Cyril has a crib in his office that Cassandra uses sometimes, so he lets the boys settle there. He watches over them as they snuggle up with each other and eventually fall asleep.

"They're so amazing." Vash says, voice full of love about his sons. "I might need to do some work in town and buy more cloth to make them some new clothes again."

[samahl]

"Yeah..." Cyril admits after a moment. Then he presses his lips together.

"I'll see about getting something together for them. I have some traders arriving soon to bring wares to the town. They should have something that will work."

[goldenglasses]

"I don't mind trading what I can do in skills for goods. I don't think I have anything of value to trade."

[samahl]

"We'll figure something out," Cyril says with a nod. Then, he moves away from the crib. He stretches his arms and back.

"I wasn't running from Knives," he says. "Your brother doesn't really scare me anymore. Not after I figured out I can run from him and survive now."

[goldenglasses]

"I'm glad he doesn't scare you anymore." He pauses for a moment before moving away from their kids. "Are you sure you want to talk about this now?"

[samahl]

"No. But I want you to know I'm not worried about Knives.

Well, I am but about him snapping and hurting the village nearby, not about my own personal safety."

Going to be driving so may miss you going to bed!

[goldenglasses]

"I understand." Vash smiles. "It's something valid to be worried about. I'm doing my best to make sure he never wants to feel the need to do that." He pauses there. Seeing if Cyril might go on from there.

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "I know," he says softly. "I don't want to have to fight him. People would get hurt. Probably I'd end up dead."

Sneaks in one more

He nods his head in agreement. Then tentatively asks the question he's slightly dreading. "Did you want to talk about why you ran then?"

[samahl]

Cyril is quiet for a moment as he thinks it over. "No. I don't think I do..." He's so careful to keep his emotions locked away. "I'm sorry. I know you want me too, but I don't think it will be productive."

[goldenglasses]

"That's okay. I understand." Vash smiles and reaches for Cyril's hand to hold. "Would you like to talk about other things instead?"
