Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Cyril doesn't seem to notice that Vash is offering help right away, but he does eventually take it. "I suppose I did," he says softly.

He pulls back and stretches a bit. "Come on. I'll head back...

Thank you for coming to get me."

"Anytime." He pauses again. "I was worried too. You ran from the cabin last night."

[samahl]

Cyril frowns. "I... did," he admits after a moment. He pulls away from the tree to head back. He wants to make sure that Bull knows he's all right.

"Was it just to get away from Knives?" He asks while following behind Cyril. "Or... was there something else?"

[samahl]

Cyril stops. He turns to look at Vash. "Can we not do this right now? I'm still pretty groggy, and my back is killing me. I don't have the wherewithal to do this with you at the moment." His voice is carefully maintained to be calm and stoic, not allowing even a hint of his emotion to show through.

Vash stops when Cyril does and is silent for a moment. Then he smiles gently.

"Of course. I'll bring the boys around for lunch later? Or... do you think you'll need a rest this afternoon?"

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "Yes. I'd like that," he agrees. He offers Vash a small smile. It just seems so practiced and plastered. "I'm sorry I worried you." He turns to keep walking then.

[goldenglasses]

"It's alright, I'm just glad you're okay. I'll see you later."

Vash returns to the cabin as his face drops. He can't help feeling this was all his fault.

Knives might be able to pick up how tired his brother feels again.

[samahl]

Knives is feeding the boys breakfast. He looks up at Vash and his eyes narrow. "Is Lavellan all right?" he asks. He already knows he is, because if it were otherwise, the boys would be fussing.

[goldenglasses]

"Yeah, he was just out late." He pauses and considers not saying anything.

"I really appreciate you sending Cyril to check on me last night." And he really was in more ways than he can count. "But... maybe don't ask him again? He's just so busy and I don't want to be a bother on him."

[samahl]

Knives considers Vash for a long moment. "Does that mean if you get like that again you'll ask for help elsewhere?"

[goldenglasses]

"I'll find some way to take care of myself if I get that way again."

[samahl]

"Isn't that what you were trying?" Knives raises a brow. But then he shrugs. "Have it your way." He turns to focus on finishing up with the boys and cleaning them up.

"They grew again. Some of the clothes that Lavellan sent fit, but we'll need more soon."

[goldenglasses]

"Wha-- they did?" He comes over and looks his sons over. "They really have." He smiles, but it's a bit bitter. "What strong boys you're becoming. I won't be able to carry you both at the same time for much longer."

[samahl]

"Pretty soon they won't need to be carried at all," Knives points out. For now, he'll focus on teaching them again.

[goldenglasses]

"Yeah, but I like being able to carry them together." He says with a pout.

[samahl]

"It won't be long for them to be fully grown," Knives points out. "What will you do then?"

[goldenglasses]

"I-- I don't know. I want them to make some of their own choices on how they want to live their lives."

[samahl]

Knives hums in thought at that. He finishes cleaning up and then sets the boys down to let them wander around the room and play. "They should stay with their family for a while."

For a long moment, Vash is quiet. Building up his confidence to speak up to his brother.

"I want to start taking them into town with me. Let them meet and play with other kids."

[samahl]

Knives frowns at that thought. "It's too dangerous for them."

[goldenglasses]

"Living in isolation isn't healthy for them."

[samahl]

Knives rolls his eyes. "They aren't isolated. They have the two of us, Lavellan, the others with Lavellan. That's more than you and I had."

[goldenglasses]

"That may be so, but it would be good if they have kids to play with too. It can always be better than what we had."

[samahl]

"There are kids back home. They could play with the ones there when we go back."
