Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

"Stay," Knives demands again. Then he moves to leave.

[goldenglasses]

Vash reaches to take Knives's hand. "Please, don't leave."

[samahl]

Knives lets him take his hand. He doesn't pull away. Instead, he turns to look at Vash.

[goldenglasses]

Vash keeps his eyes on the floor. "Knives... I-- I can't stay this way. You're right. I can't protect the boys like this." He takes a shuddering breath and continues to look at the floor.

"So... will you... help me?"

[samahl]

Knives turns more fully towards Vash. "Help?" he asks. "How?"

[goldenglasses]

It takes Vash nearly a full minute to speak. The lump in his throat so hard that it's hard to get his voice to work.

"We-- we would need to have someone watch the boys. I can get... loud." And yet he still can directly say what he's asking.

[samahl]

"You're not being clear, Vash. What do you want?"

[goldenglasses]

There is another very long pause. "I think I need to have sex. Please help me." He still hasn't looked up from the floor.

[samahl]

Knives grunts. "That's what I was doing. I was going to get Lavellan."

[goldenglasses]

"I don't want to burden him with my problems anymore." That part comes out easy.

The next part is the struggle. "That's why." He tries to continue, but his throat tries to close and he has to try again. "That's why I'm asking for your help."

[samahl]

Knives reaches out with his free hand and touches Vash's chin. "You remember we've done that before? And it drove you away from me."

[goldenglasses]

Vash tenses when his brother's hand comes into view. Clearly expecting a slap or a strike of some sort.

With a defeated voice Vash will continue to speak to the ground unless his brother forces him to look up. "I was drugged then. I'm not now." And that hurts more. He's so desperate.

[samahl]

Knives moves his thumb to trail along Vash's lower lip. "And you're only asking this now because you're too much of a coward to ask Lavellan."

[goldenglasses]

Vash sighs and closes his eyes. "Yes. I'm a coward." And before he can stop and think about it, he suddenly sucks on his brother's thumb. His body quacking in unnatural excitement.

[samahl]

Knives lets himself take a sharp breath. He's been trying to stay impassive about this whole thing, but watching Vash do that is making that facade start to break.

"Don't run this time," he says. "Don't whine about it being wrong. Don't blame me after."

[goldenglasses]

"I won't run and I won't blame you." He's asked for this after all. "But you know this isn't what brothers should be doing."

[samahl]

Knives pulls his hand away then. And takes a step back. "That's what they think. Those mortals. Even the elves now.

We aren't then, Vash."

[goldenglasses]

When that hand is taken away, Vash makes a small noise of despair and finally looks up at his brother. The desperation and need clearly on his face. "Maybe we are different, but sex-- it's-- it should be something between lovers, not family."

[samahl]

"Hm. Do you have one of those, Vash?" Knives asks. His voice seems so light, as if he's only asking out of simple curiosity, but everything about that question is sharp and designed to hurt.

[goldenglasses]

It twists his heart that he can't immediately say yes. If he could he'd be with Cyril right now instead of wishing a hole would form and swallow him up.

"I do, but he's suffered something traumatic and needs time and space to recover."

[samahl]

"Hm. I'm sure he's doing just that," Knives says. He sighs and turns away from Vash. "If he's yours, though, and this isn't something family should be doing, you should go find him and explain to him how bad it is."

[goldenglasses]

"I can't." Vash manages to keep his voice steady and avoid sounding like he's whining. His body throbbing and wet. He really doesn't want to get into this right now and tries to just leave it at that.

[samahl]

Knives sighs. He pulls away from Vash fully and goes towards the door. "You and Lavellan fucked at the river, didn't you? I'm going to go there. I'll send one of my people here to watch over the boys. After they arrive, you can choose to meet me or to go get Lavellan. But, if you talk anymore about how wrong or unnatural it all is, I don't want to see you there at all."

[goldenglasses]

"Yes sir." He sounds absolutely miserable and doesn't follow Knives.

He waits for the person Knives sends to arrive. He doesn't look at them. The shame devouring him as he leaves the cabin and heads towards the river. Trying to tell himself and pretend that he's going there to meet Cyril.

Knives is waiting for him on the riverbank. He can sense when Vash is there but he doesn't look up at him. Instead, he's watching the way the water flows gently down the river.
