[Vash was getting use to his life in the city. Some of it has been pretty bad, but for the most part he really can't complain. He always had enough to eat. He had stopped pouring sand out of his clothing. Could have all the water and shower for however long he wanted. No one had tried to shoot him in months. The people here even didn't care about his scars. In fact some people really liked them!
He was currently without a dominate, but he didn't mind. A small grace period to find another one and he wasn't in a rush. Which is why he was taking a moment to enjoy a bit of people watching in the Down. Munching on a donut and enjoying the day.
The only problem was in times like these his mind tends to wander to thoughts of home. Worry starts to settle in. Hoping that his friends were alright without him. Things certainly looking good when he left. Of course, there wasn't much he could do for them here so he tries not to think too much about it.
Besides, this donut was really tasty. Right now he just wanted to sit and enjoy them. Nothing bad could happen on this day, right?]

There-- there's another Plant? Like us? [Another Independent? He can't keep the shock from his face. What was that about him being hurt and worn out? Something about the Gun Ho Guns? Not at all important.] From Earth?
no subject
Vash... What is the last thing that you remember before ending up here?
no subject
I was with you. Stuck with Legato in your ark. [It sounds better that way then using the word imprisoned.]
no subject
Then, rejoice, brother, for I bring you news of victory.
You won.
[He doesn't even sound all that upset about it. Just tired mostly.]
no subject
Then his eyes trail up at that black hair once more. In that moment his heart aches at hearing how tired Knives sounds. That didn't sound like his brother. For all the anger and fear Vash held in his heart towards his twin while being trapped in this world he's surprised by how much it hurt him to hear him that way.] Knives... what-- [He stops. Not sure how to say what he wants to ask.] Are you? Are you okay? [Now Vash finally takes a step a bit closer towards his brother. Worry winning out over his nervous apprehension. His hair was so black.]
no subject
I'm not sure what I am. I used the last of my power to bring my dead body back to life just long enough for the two of us to fly away together. And then I gave an apple tree to the family who promised to look after you and...
I shouldn't be anymore, Vash. I was content with that being my last action.
Now I am here instead.
[Being told he has to find a suitable partner and give into all of those disgusting desires that humans made such a big deal about.]
no subject
No. Knives was strong. There was no way that he was gone back home. Vash's eyes flick up at his brother's hair once again. It was awfully black.]
no subject
Then, slowly, he smiles and then chuckles. He isn't sure why this is so funny to him. Maybe because for such a long time he was sure Vash wanted him gone, and now that had been reversed.]
And instead, I supposed, my life will now be made of finding a way to stomach what they require me to do?
no subject
I suggest you find a way to stomach at least the bare minimum because it makes life a lot easier if you do. [He says it without stopping to think that his words and tone of voice allude to the fact that Vash knows, perhaps even experienced, first hand what the harder option is.]
no subject
What did they do to you? [And there's such a low threat in that question. As if Knives is looking for a reason to want to kill everyone again.]
no subject
Vash makes a mental note to himself. Make sure Knives never finds out that there is a clone Vash running around. That clone is a bit crazy and tends to put himself into a lot of questionable situations.]
no subject
Sex is just not something Knives has ever really thought about before. He's aware of it, of course, but he's never applied it to himself or his brother.]
You're suggesting I find others I'd be willing to... [Gross.]
Please tell me there are more than pieces of human garbage here. [Vash did say something about how not all of them were human. And the thought of doing anything with a human is enough to make Knives want to vomit.]
no subject
There's a surprising number of vampires here. [Considering he went from thinking they weren't real to befriending a couple it feels like a lot to Vash.] And humans are not garbage. So don't call them that.
[Don't ask. For your own sanity don't ask.] So, ah, does that mean that you've never... you know... tried it before? [WHAT DID I JUST TELL MYSELF NOT TO ASK?!]
no subject
Had his brother gone crazy? Would he mention unicorns and pixies next?
Any other hint of mocking, though, is utterly destroyed by the question.]
What? Of course I haven't. Who would I have done it with? Humans?
What's the next thing you're going to suggest? That I hop on a pile of refuse and do it with that? Or perhaps we should find a dog? [So Vash asked him not to call humans garbage and he just went on to call them that again and then immediately call them animals.]
That is fucking disgusting.
no subject
And, well, Legato had seemed fairly will-- Nope. He's cutting that thought off before he can let it go any further than that. Focusing instead on his brother calling humans garbage again.] You're going to have to make up your mind Knives. Because if you don't make your own choices then they'll take it away from you. They'll come for you and they'll turn off your powers to take you away and then force you into it. Force you into doing something you normally would possibly hate.
If you really want to limit your choices by not giving a lot of nice people a chance because you can't get over your foolish superiority problem then that's your problem. Your the only one getting hurt by it.
I suggest you get an attitude adjustment and fast if you want to live comfortably here. Otherwise you're going to struggle badly. This isn't our home. This isn't our world.
no subject
No, this world manages to somehow be even more disgusting. [He grumbles, mostly to himself. No Man's Land could have been a paradise for the two of them and their siblings, but humans had ruined it too.
Still, the words don't have the same fire they might have had before because he's a little distracted by the way that Vash is wording all of this. He seems so interested in convincing Knives because he doesn't want his brother taken by the authorities and forced into it.]
You're worried about me.
no subject
[No matter how angry and how much hatred he'd felt over the years he didn't wish to see his brother forced to sleep with someone he didn't want to be with.]
no subject
And you should contract with me to ensure we fulfill that requirement.
[This might be a test to see just how far Vash was willing to go to protect him and others around them.]
no subject
no subject
And a habit of knowing far too many people. [Look, this just makes logical sense, Vash.]
no subject
He lets his eyes wander over the city sprawled out below them. No. It wouldn't be like back on the ark because there would still be something he could do for those people down below that he couldn't do back home.]
Alright, Knives. I'll contract with you under two conditions.
One. You have to buy me donuts at least once a day. [Something small and easy to agree to. Ease Knives into the idea of saying yes before the hard condition.]
Two. You can't kill anyone for any reason. You can't hurt anyone except in self defense. [There were a few violent people out there. He didn't want Knives going around terrifying humans, but he also didn't want to leave him defenseless either.] You can't be the first to throw a punch. I mean only when you have no other option. Walking or running away is an option.
no subject
It seems so stupid, but then Vash was always like this. He always insisted on following the stupid dreams given to him by Rem.]
You want my body to end up as scarred as yours?
[But, hey, Vash isn't saying anything about getting a new collection of knives, a new Gung Ho Guns, and siccing them on others. Maybe he could rely on that, so long as he wasn't lifting his own hands.]
no subject
[Vash doesn't think about that loop hole. He may find himself regretting it in the future.]
no subject
And you will stay with me and help me find people I can stomach touching me to meet my quota.
no subject
He doesn't do a good job keeping his disappointment out of his face at the thought of having to live with his brother.] Fine. I'll move in.
I also get to fill my own quota however I see fit. [He's going to keep having sex with humans. He just won't bring them home.]
