Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

"That's right." The beast agrees, leaning in closer to Vash as he nearly drops Cyril. His arms becoming so wet and tired. "You killed me. How many people this last century have you allowed to suffer when you could have killed them? How much did he suffer? Your brother could have stopped this all from happening if you had just asked him to. It was so easy."

Vash's hands are so slick that he's finding it nearly impossible to hold on. "Stop! Stop! Why won't you all just go away?! “

[samahl]

Knives makes a slightly annoyed sound and then leans forward to help Vash pull up his family. "None of that matters. We can do this together."

[goldenglasses]

"NO! DON'T!" Vash doesn't seem at all relieved to have help. "I'm sorry! Please! Don't give them to the pack! Leave them alone!" He seems convinced that Knives is only helping to take them away.

[samahl]

Knives glares at this dream brother. "I'm not," he says. "I'm going to help you. You don't have to do this alone. Don't let these creatures burden you any further. We'll save your sons together."

[goldenglasses]

There is no belief in Vash's expression, but he has no choice. It's let them fall or accept his brother's help.

They'll be able to get them up onto the ledge again, but as soon as they pull the three to safety - the dream sends an endless wave of werewolves that descend upon them. It won't matter how many Knives tries to kill. They'll keep coming. Taking Cyril to rape him while the children are eaten alive. It's the way this dream always ends. Either the boys fall or are taken by the pack.

Knives pulls away from Vash as it becomes clear this isn't going to work. Once he's back to himself, he shoves Vash's shoulder. "Wake up."

[goldenglasses]

Being woken up with a shove has Vash waking up with flailing limbs. A shout half catching in his throat as he comes awake suddenly. "Wha--?!"

ugh sorry about the delay. i kind of passed out a little so i think it's time for bed x_x

[samahl]

"You were having a bad dream," Knives informs him blankly.

That's okay! Our show is about to start so I'm about to go silent anyway!

[goldenglasses]

"Oh." His heart is still beating wildly from the nightmare. "The boys? Are they okay? Was I scaring them?" Is that how Knives knew? Luckily the twins are either use to their father's nightmares or are too enamoured by the new toys to notice much.

[samahl]

"They're fine. They're playing," Knives replies simply. "Did you need more sleep?"

[goldenglasses]

Yes. Vash's body is nearly screaming for more rest. "No, it's fine." But his mind is much too wired now for him to sleep. Knowing he'll see visions of the nightmare if he closes his eyes again.

He gives his brother a smile. "Power nap was all I needed. Sleep too long and I won't be able to sleep tonight. Oh, heh, but I guess you don't really need to worry about too much sleep, huh?

[samahl]

"Nor should you, but you've used up so much of your natural energy. Your body needs to take time to recover," Knives says after a moment. "Don't push yourself."

[goldenglasses]

"I know. I know." Without thinking, he runs his fingers through the newly blackened part of his hair. "It's alright. I'm not pushing myself."

Yes he is. Doing those chores earlier to earn things for his sons was the most normal he's felt in some time. He's planning on doing it every day if he can find work.

"How's my boys?" He asks the twins who can't answer him. Trying to get the topic off himself. "I bet you two are hungry. Or at least could use a change. One of you stinks."

If Knives doesn't question or try to stop him, Vash will spend the rest of the evening looking after and playing with his sons. While reaching out and sensing for Cyril. Trying to let him know where his family has ended up.

Knvies lets him, though he quietly spends time with the boys too. It's almost peaceful.

Cyril reaches back out too, and seems familiar with where they ended up. For now, though, he stays with Marikoth and Cassandra.

There's a worry that Vash does his best to hide when Cyril doesn't visit in the evening. Worried about how much time he's missing with his sons and how much better he thinks the twins will be under Cyril's care.

Even after the boys are put down to rest, Vash stays up. Hopeful that maybe Cyril is just busy. Maybe he'll still stop by and he wants to be awake for that.

Or, if he was honest with himself, he's trying to avoid more nightmares. Feeling rattled enough by the one he had earlier.

Every so often Knives might notice the way his brother's eyes start to close before he snaps them open again. Fighting the urge to sleep.

[samahl]

Knives glowers after a while. "What will help you sleep?" he asks. "Should I go hunt down warm milk or a soft pillow?"

[goldenglasses]

"No, it's fine. You don't need to do anything." Vash stares at the floor rather than his brother. "There's nothing I need. I'm comfortable enough in the bed." It's the nightmares he doesn't want to face.

"But I suppose I should head to bed." He hesitates. "Are you going to stay here while I sleep? Or what are you going to do while we're all asleep?"

alrighty i should go to bed. have a good night!

[samahl]

"Would it help if I stay here?" he asks. He doesn't think his presence is very comforting.

Have a good sleep!

"Yes?" Vash doesn't sound confident. He knows it will at least make him feel better to know his brother isn't out causing problems for Cyril's people. "I know you don't need sleep, but... would you like to try sleeping with me?" He probably could have worded that a little better.

[samahl]

Knives freezes up for a moment as he processes what Vash is asking. Then, he nods stiffly. "Having someone near will help?" He moves to get ready to lie in the bed.

[goldenglasses]

Knowing where you are will help. Is the thought he keeps private to himself.

"I don't like being alone." Is what he admits out loud. "You won't get too bored?" He asks as he moves to join his twin in bed.

[samahl]

"No," Knives says simply. He lies back and leaves enough space for Vash to join him. His body is awkwardly stiff, though. He definitely isn't relaxing.

[goldenglasses]

"It's been awhile since you've actually slept, hasn't it?" He can't help but to ask as he lays down next to his brother. Shifting and finding a comfortable position next to him.

He thinks that the reason Knives is so rigid. Nothing to do with him laying so close.

[samahl]

"Hn. It's better to be productive," he says after a moment.

[goldenglasses]

"Yeah, but even the best computers on the ships needed a reset now and then." He pauses a moment. "If you're not comfortable resting you don't have to. You've already done enough for me."
