Bad End Part 6 - Never let the pain stop

Things only continue to get worse. Vash continues to spiral and loose himself the more the mind breaking continues. The mages continue to use Cyril like he's nothing but a toy to use and throw away. Yet, any chance they have to have together the love Vash and Cyril share together stays strong. For now that remains unbroken. With every day only getting worse that will continue to be challenged.

Cyril tries to look Vash in the eye. He may be disappointed by the way Vash's eyes drift to the side towards Cyril's shoulder. He tries to do it slowly and not draw attention to it, but as he's looking for it, it will be easy for Cyril to spot.

Cyril chuckles lightly. "Hmm. I do like getting random kisses from you..." He lets Vash try to lighten the mood.

[goldenglasses]

"Good. I'm glad that hasn't changed." He moves so he can give Cyril a proper kiss on his lips before he finally does something about the puddle he's making by not drying himself off at all first.

[samahl]

Cyril returns the kiss gently and then tosses a towel at Vash's head playfully. He pulls away then to get redressed.

"Heh." Vash chuckles as the towel hits his head. Using it to wrap up his long hair that he hasn't bothered to cut in some time.

Once mostly dry, he gets dressed and goes to check on the boys. If they're not awake yet, he'll start to prepare a breakfast for them.

"It's pretty crazy to think they're already eating food," Cyril says as he moves closer to help Vash.

[goldenglasses]

"As much as I want then to stay little forever." Vash admits while smashing up some food into a paste the kids can eat. "I don't know what I would have done if they still needed your milk to survive."

alright i have a massive headache so i'm gonna head to bed early. have a good night!

Cyril nods. "It's good then," he admits after a moment. "I'm glad they are growing well."

Hope the headache let's you sleep!!

"They're so strong." Vash says fondly. "They've been so good for me." He moves to pick up Soren who has begun to stir and whine. Perhaps able to smell the food his father has gotten ready for them.

[samahl]

Cyril moves to do the same for Alex. He focuses on getting the boys fed for now. It's towards the end that they can both sense that Knives is nearby again.

It's a weird sense of panic and relief that he feels sensing his brother getting closer.

"Cyril, I don't want the boys growing up isolated. But, I'll keep them away from any other children in this town if you'd feel better if we did." Or more keep Knives away by keeping the boys isolated.

[samahl]

Cyril is quiet for a moment. "I only care about keeping Knives calm while he is here," he says. "Whatever will stop him from lashing out."

[goldenglasses]

"I don't know what he's planning exactly, but I'll let him settle then try to introduce the boys a bit more. With your permission."

[samahl]

Cyril nods. "That's probably a good idea," he agrees.

They can feel Knives is entering the inn and heading up to the room. Cyril focuses on hiding how nervous he feels by cleaning up Alex after his meal.

About to start my gym session. I'll be quiet for at least an hour

With a nod, Vash stands and leaves the twins with Cyril so he can open the door for his brother. Just like Cyril, he finds it hard to look his brother in the eye. He keeps them mostly cast down to the floor.

"Welcome back, Knives. We're just about done getting the boys ready for the day. I hope your journey went alright."

Knives nods and looks in at the room at Cyril and the boys. He pushes in past Vash.

"I've set up a perimeter and have some of my people patrolling the woods for any sign of the cult. If you insist on keeping the boys here, we'll ensure that they are safe." He seems to really hate that idea though.

"Are you planning on staying here?" He looks around in annoyance at the idea that they'll just be staying in an inn.

It was, but so hot and sweaty now.

Vash steps aside as Knives enters so he doesn't have to push too much to come in. "I was thinking of trying to set up a camp a short distance from town. Until that is suitable for the boys I thought we could stay here. I could work on that today if you or Cyril could keep an eye on the boys."

[samahl]

"I will," Knives says forcefully, as he glares hard at Cyril.

Cyril offers him a gracious smile. "Thank you," he says. He makes sure Alex is finished up and moves to stand. "I should go check on my people. Unless there's anything else you need of me?"

"No," Knives answers right away, his voice cutting off any questioning.

[goldenglasses]

"We'll be alright, but if you have free time later? It would be nice if you can visit your sons again." That your more for Knives than Cyril. One night with Cyril and Vash isn't better, but there's a small spark of the man who would stand up to his brother coming back. At least in terms of defending Cyril from his twin.

Cyril nods, gives each of the boys a kiss, and then moves to leave to return to the headquarters he's been staying at with Bull and Marikoth.

Knives relaxes just a bit when he's gone. "How can you stand to be around him?"

Cyril will return to a Marikoth who is clearly jealous and upset that he spent the night alone last night and is doing his very best to act like he's not jealous and upset. He's just not a very good actor.

"Because I love him." Vash says simply as he moves to start cleaning up after the boy's breakfast. "And as the father of my children, I'm really hoping you can learn to, at the very least, stand to be around him."

Cyril feels heartbroken when he gets back. So many of the things that Vash said and did last night makes worry weigh on him. He doesn't have the ability to cater to Marikoth's mood too, so he lets the man act like he isn't bothered while he works with Bull and the other Inquisition members to make sure they don't step on the toes of Knives's patrol.

Knives watches Vash and narrows his eyes. "Well... I suppose he is the only thing that can reliably bring about more children..." They probably could convince one of their sisters to do it, but he doesn't really know what that would take.

Vash can't stop the spike of fear and panic he clearly feels hearing those words come from his brother. "No. No more kids. Cyril nearly died bringing these two into the world. I won't put him through that sort of risk again."

[samahl]

Knives stares down at Vash. "I thought the point of him being what he is now was to ensure that he would survive the process."

[goldenglasses]

It doesn't take long for Vash to break eye contact and look towards the floor. "It was a gamble. A gamble that very nearly killed him. Even with the help from our sons. I'm not interested in trying that gamble again."

"So... what use is he then?"
